Voice Gatekeeper

The MyPower VGK2X IP Gatekeeper is the core equipment of VoIP network that provides address resolution and access authentication. The gatekeeper offers complete function, stability, reliability, large capability, security, convenient network construction, compatibility, extension and simple network management.

The MyPower VGK2X IP Gatekeeper supports the following functions:

The access control and security authentication protect the security of VoIP.
The backup switch and load balance guarantee connection of network calling.
The multi-level gatekeeper and area management construct large capacity VoIP network or extend present network. The bandwidth management and call control distribute and use present network resource.

Key Features

Address resolution

• The gatekeeper gets relevant IP address via registering terminal, technical prefix, static gateway or load balance.
  
  

Access control

• The gatekeeper decides and exercises control over which ports can join H.323 network. Normally, the gatekeeper permits all terminals joining H.323 network. But if the network requirement is high, it allows only the known terminal list.

Bandwidth control

• The gatekeeper monitors and controls all network bandwidth, which can prevent the total bandwidth of voice and video.

Load balance

• The gateway connectivity and load balance lessen gateway's pressure. The VGK2X realizes two types of load balances --one is to gateway session and another to FXO.
  
  

Backup switch

• The backup switch is one type of gatekeeper backup and it makes the whole system stable. The host gatekeeper registers on to the backup gatekeeper. When host gatekeeper appears faulty, the registered terminals on host may transfer to backup. When host gatekeeper works normally, the terminals switch back.
  
  

Hot backup

• Provides hot backup between many VGK2X to improve system operation stability.
  
  

Area management

• Manages all registered H.323 ports and provides address transferring service. It permits network designers decide which terminals and gateways can register to different logical areas on the same gatekeeper.
  
  

Multilevel gatekeeper

• The gatekeeper supports both single gatekeeper with multiple areas and multiple gatekeepers with multiple areas. In the second type, each area establishes gatekeepers¡¯ connectivity and multilevel gatekeepers function to extend the management scale of gatekeeper and network scale.
  
  

Call control

• The H.323 port communicates with gateway via gatekeeper. The gatekeeper knows the gateway activity or port via the maintenance of present activity list to realize load balance among gateways and improve system stability.
  
  

Security authentication

• Through the receipt of port register and call requirement, the gatekeeper adopts H.235 or private protocol to realize its terminal register and call authentication
  
  

Convenient network management

• Maipu call management server (VCM2000) is a strong video network management platform, and all gatekeepers¡¯ configuration and operation will be realized via this platform. Maipu IP gatekeeper and gateway, Maipu call management server (VCM2000) and authentication system (NetSmart) construct an integrated IP voice solution.
